First-Class English Tutoring
Teaching Students K-12
Over the last twelve years, my dedicated work within K-12 homeschooling communities has allowed me to master the essential pillars of literacy. I specialize in guiding students through phonics, handwriting, reading, and fundamental grammar.
College Courses Taught
I have taught a wide range of college English courses, including Beginning and Intermediate Composition, Grammar, Creative Writing, Technical Writing, Business Communication, and ESL. My goal is to give students clear goals, engaging lessons, and the support they need to become confident, effective communicators.
My name is Linda Kennedy, and I hold both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree in English. I bring over nine years of experience teaching college-level English and more than fifteen years of editing and proofreading experience. I am comfortable teaching both onsite and online, having successfully worked in both environments throughout my career.

Celebrating student growth
Focus on Writing & Composition
Composition is the course I enjoy teaching most. I guide students through every stage of the writing process—from brainstorming and organizing ideas to drafting, revising, and polishing a final piece. Because writing is recursive, I focus on helping students clarify their thinking while preserving their unique voice. My goal is to build confident, capable writers, no matter where they begin.
In addition, I have taught an introduction to The Great Books by Mortimer Adler, guiding students through classic works that span influential authors, ideas, and eras of Western civilization. This course has been especially rewarding because it fosters critical thinking, meaningful discussion, and a lasting appreciation for timeless literature. My diverse teaching experiences have strengthened my ability to adapt instruction to learners of all ages while cultivating curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Focus on Great Discussion
Student-Centered Teaching Philosophy
Every student learns differently. I begin by assessing each student's abilities, learning style, strengths, and goals, then design personalized instruction that meets their unique needs. By putting the student first, I create a supportive learning environment that builds confidence, encourages growth, and helps each learner achieve lasting success.
As a parent, you want your child to feel seen, supported, and challenged in the right ways. My promise is to meet your student where they are, build their confidence step by step, and communicate with you clearly so we can work together to help them grow.
